About Us

Passion

I wanted to be a builder but was offered an apprenticeship in plastering, completing my apprenticeship in Invercargill working on projects including tiling of the Smash Palace swimming pools. I acheived excellence being awarded top apprentice in New Zealand in the final year of my apprenticeship. My other passion in life was speedway motor racing. I achieved highly, winning national titles and racing in the Ivan Mauger Troupe in Australia before crashes and injuries put me firmly in the spectator seat.

A passion for winning transferred to plastering and a passion for leading, being a leading plasterer, leading the team and building a leading plastering business. 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016 awards from Resene Construction Systems recognise our plastering excellence and business success.

Partnerships

My cousin and I formed a partnership in Christchurch in 1995. Determination and persistence saw us get our foot in the door with the commercial operators of the day. We quickly formed relationships with contractors and suppliers and were soon plastering a seven storey building. The business changed and grew and became Premier Plastering Christchurch Ltd. Key to our success has been the strength of our relationships with contractors, clients, builders, suppliers and others, the strength of our team and the passion we have for the trade.

People

Our team is key to our success. We have a proud record of team members having worked for us for 5, 10 and over 10 years. The strength of our team is in the depth of experience we have. We bring this experience to any project and can often offer solutions or ideas drawn from the many and varied projects we have been involved in. We pride ourselves on being able to consult on and complete difficult jobs where others might struggle, because of our knowledge of both traditional and modern plastering techniques.

It’s important to us to recognise potential, we’ve encouraged many labourers into apprenticeships and have seen them complete their qualifications and grow and develop their skills in the trade.

My transition from working IN the business on the tools to working ON the business as Business Manager was not easy, but made easier through support from partners including our Accountant, Accounting Solutions Ltd. We participated in the Lift Wealth & Business Coaching programme which renewed our focus on our business and our future and gave us a structure for regular review of our lifestyle and business.

Another passion of mine is family. I am a proud father of three children, watching them grow and teaching them as much as I can is important to me, I learned through hard work and I like to my children working hard, enjoying themselves and becoming good people.
